WELCOME to Ms V's and S2's first Aid Elective Web site. Ms V hopes that you will be impressed with the quality of work and effort levels the First Aid students have put into this elective. We aim to share our lesson content and showcase some essential First Aid information gathered in class, as well as some learning aids, revision tools or pod casts created by our pupils.
"St John Ambulance's new campaign, Helpless, highlights that up to 140,000
people die each year in situations where first aid could help save their lives. This is as many as those that die from cancer. The TV advert follows the journey of a man who is diagnosed with cancer, undergoes treatment, and lives, only to choke to death at a family gathering because no one knows basic first aid that could save his life". |
'The Telegraph' explores the new St Johns Ambulance HARD HITTING first aid video campaignThe campaign was spurred on by research from St John Ambulance showing that over four times as many of us think more people die from cancer than a lack of first aid.
Sue Killen, St John Ambulance Chief Executive, said: "In situations where first aid could help save a life we don't have to feel helpless, because learning life saving skills is so simple. That's why it's so concerning that fewer than 1 in 5 of us knows even basic first aid. This has got to change if we are to stop up to 140,000 lives from being needlessly lost each year." St John Ambulance urge people to text HELP to 80039 for advice and a free pocket guide on learning first aid.
